Haley Flight grew up outside of Boston and is now a Senior Illustration major at Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine. She works predominantly in ink, watercolor and gouache creating detailed works of art that combine folk art sensibilities with crisp line and cool colors. Flight is inspired by Slavic folk art, botanical illustration, and Victorian undergarments. She often brings these inspirations into her own practice, employing meticulous mark making to produce simple yet elegant, repetitive patterns. Flight’s interest in organization and distinctive line work is evident in her hand lettering which is paired with scrupulous flourishes and organic shapes, personifying the practical whimsy of the unseen. She is interested in working with clients on commissions that range from fine art to album artwork. Her free time is spent creating her own recipes, exploring new places, singing along to alternative-indie music, or curled up with a good book.
